Cost Control
A critical component of our design process is working within the budget established by the client. Gaining an understanding early in the design process that the budget targets are being met is key. We have developed a systematic approach to budgeting which draws on various estimating and cost control sources.
We actively maintain up to date ‘unit cost’ data derived from current and past projects. At critical points during design process, unit take-offs of the conceptual design are completed. This data is then combined in a spread sheet creating a budget value. This process is used to understand the budget impact of design decisions as the project progresses.
Most of our projects currently are constructed under the Construction Management process. This allows both our clients and our firm to benefit from their knowledge of construction options earlier in the design process and also utilize their conceptual budgeting services. The conceptual budgets they provide act as check against our budgeting process to ensure this critical client target is attained.
